After the winter layoff the Champions League has begun the ‘knockout stage’ with several big names still left the field, promising an exciting final. The story of the tournament thus far has been the strong showing by the EPL sides, representing 25% of the remaining clubs. On the first leg of knockout play Arsenal held serve and put Roma on the spot requiring the Italian side to better the cannons by a goal when they return home, but they looked poised to advance to the final eight. Man U didn’t put anything on the board but looks good to advance as well as they head back to Old Trafford needing just a victory to advance. Both Italian sides (Inter and Madrid) will have to go on the road and get tough wins in order to advance. Meanwhile, Barcelona continues to slip under the radar needing just a victory at home to advance. Here are the match day one results as well as the day two fixtures
Inter Milan 0 – 0 Man U
Arsenal 1 – 0 Roma
Athletico Madrid 2 - 2 FC Porto
Lyon 1 – 1 Barcelona
-------------------------------------------
Real Madrid – Liverpool
Chelsea – Jeventus
Villarreal – Panathinaikos
Sporting – Bayern Munich
